What does prsonal responsibility means to me Essay What does personal responsibility mean to me? According to Dictionary.com, â€Å"Personal Responsibility is the state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one’s power, control, or management.† I am taking responsibility to complete my degree. I need to take responsibility for my academic work just like I do with business, I need to finish what I start, and if I take responsibility I will incorporate effective strategies as a student. First, I need to take responsibility for my academic work just like I do with business. It seems that most of my life has consisted in working for myself or for my business. After I dropped out of school and got married I opened up a family restaurant in the Oroville area called Cassidy’s Family Restaurant. We were very successful. Usually a restaurant needs to watch their food and labor numbers very closely but because we had huge volume it wasn’t necessary. At our high point we were bringing in $137,000.00 a week! One year later we opened up a second restaurant in Chico. Here, we did well but I was responsible for two growing, profitable restaurants. After five years I got out of the business and got into Real Estate. This new venture was slow in the beginning. I performed all of the normal marketing procedures that a Real Estate agent would perform and eventually became very proficient. This lead into opening my own agency which was very profitable but I decided to downsize in order to finish my degree. Using these examples, if I apply the same techniques and responsibilities to completing my degree then I should be ready to succeed. Taking responsibility for my academic work like I have with business I will be able to complete my college education. Next, I need to finish what I started. A college education is very important to me. Because I lacked a college education I could not get the high paying job I wanted with a corporation. I needed to make a healthy monthly income and without a college education the only way to make a lot of money was to start your own company. Presently, it’s a good time to finish my education because money is stable and I have the patience to work through  the classes. Also, my degree is probably the most important piece of my life that I have not completed and I am committed Lastly, by taking responsibility for my education I take responsibility to incorporate effective strategies as a student.. My college journey started in the late 80’s and it continued until 1993. I started at the local junior colleges and eventually transferred to U.C. Davis. My first year at Davis was a disaster! I was trying hard to fit in and lived off campus which was ridiculous. The quarter system was new to me and classes went by so fast. I did not take any responsibility for any of my actions. I started to miss classes and tests. Trying to catch up was a nightmare! Thinking back I really could have used more direction with my education. A good example is the exercises that we are completing in class right now. It feels refreshing learning more about myself and how I can actually fit into our class groups. Taking responsibility for my education will allow me to complete my education. Lastly, by taking responsibility I will incorporate effective strategies as a student. I will seek out advice from current successful students to succeed. According to Margaret M. Spieth in Optimizing Online Student Success: Strategies Utilized by technical College Students: 1) Take advantage of face-to-face time offered with your online instructor when you feel the course material is not making sense. Dont go into the class thinking that no face-to-face contact is the best approach. Meet your instructor to answer questions/comments/concerns you may have that an email will not convey properly. 2) Do not assume that an online class will be a breeze because you dont meet face-to-face. 3) It is extremely important to know that it generally takes more time to complete an online class than a traditional class, ranging from 4 hours to 25 hours of your time per class, per week. Plan your personal and online life accordingly and your family will still want all/most of their time -even if they have offered to make sacrifices. 4) Its wonderful to take when you work and have a family. Wish there were more classes like this! pg 140 In Conclusion, it is time to take control of my future education. Through the years I have started and ran successful business but always felt a  little incomplete because I did not complete my education. Using the tools and taking responsibility for my education as I did with my past businesses I should be successful. I am taking responsibility to complete my degree. By doing so I need to take responsibility for my academic work just like I do with business, I need to finish what I start, and if I take responsibility it will be easier to complete my degree. Critical Analysis on The Scream by Edvard Munch Edvard Munch was born on December 12 1863 in Loten Norway. He moved to Christiana, and spent most of his childhood there. Both his mother and his oldest sister suffered from tuberculosis and died before he reached the age of 14. At 18 he became more serious about his art and started attending art school. Edvard finally found a release for the pain he felt from his sister’s death. In 1886 he painted â€Å"The Sick Child†. The painting was so emotionally charged that it received a lot of criticism from the press and the public. However some of his artist colleagues began to recognize his talent. The same year another tragedy struck. His father died in November. Edvard received some scholarships that allowed him to spend the next few years in Paris. Although he would return to Norway during the summer, his style was that of a French Impressionist. In 1892 Munch submitted a series of paintings into a major Berlin art show. His exhibit was titled â€Å"The Frieze of Life†. This show caused an even larger uproar than his previous work. Edvard became a celebrity overnight and he painted such paintings as â€Å"the sick child† â€Å"the scream† and â€Å"vampire†, which showed his true emotion feelings. Edvard Munch had been through a lot of trauma, hurt and heartbreak in his life and his art work and painting helped him to expressive his feelings. I am going to be analysing and studing the Painting â€Å"The Scream†. Edvard Munch was an Impressionist painter. Expressionism is movement in the arts during the early part of the 20th century that emphasized subjective expression of the artist's inner experiences. This may ... ...e of the loneliest, scariest, and the most amazing place were we can escape to, and were no one else can know what you are thinking. I have seen how to symbolise certain things by colours and shapes and how to give a certain impression and mood. I can see how amazing dreams and nightmares are because they are not in this world, but they are only true portraits our ourselves and our lives so anything is possible and even our darkest and saddest feelings that we bury away inside us can show and come to life in our dreams. I have learnt to make a straightforward piece of art turn into an emotional and deep feeling that every person has different views and feeling about depending on their own lives. I can now see how this piece of artwork is truly individual, remarkable and unique as it shows that emotions of a broken man.

Unit Outcome

At 3 months babies will start to notice objects around them like mobiles above beds, TV's, lamps tables etc. At months babies will start to explore toys passing them from one hand to the next and exploring it with their mouths too. Babies will start to smile back at smiling faces at around 3 months at around 6 months babies start to show that they are understanding dome of what is being said for instance they may start to lift arms in the air to communicate that they would like to be picked up.Babies at between 3 and 6 months will be settling into a good routine which will have a balance of both inpatient and play time spending lots of time smiling and playing with career 6-12 MONTHS At this stage babies will be becoming mobile, crawling bum shuffling and at closer to 1 2 months maybe cruising using furniture to help stable themselves s they move around on their feet and possibly walking freely. Babies will becoming more independent at trying to feed themselves using fingers and poss ibly with spoons. Babies at this stage will still be exploring objects with hands and mouth exploration may happen for longer periods of times.When children start to reach the 12 months they will start to recognize symbols do routine water running for baths bib at food time etc. At this stage children will start to understand some key words like bottle, dinner. There babbling will become longer and more tuneful they may start to point to object to express to adults that they want it. At this age children start to understand that objects and people do not disappear this means that when main careers disappear they may become upset and cry they may try to stay close to main career they may become anxious if strangers approach then. -2 YEARS By 1 8 month children have found their feet and are moving with speed, they will enjoy playing with ride-on toys using legs to push off. And enjoy playing push/ pull toys pushing cars down ramps etc. At closer to 2 children are likely to start explo re to climbing things such as chairs, tables and the stairs. Children at this age will use children's cutlery (spoon and fork) to try to independently feed themselves although may not always be successfully and may make a mess. Children at this age enjoy repetitive games and posting Or pop up toys.At closer to 2 they may start playing with building block building 1 ,2,3 block tower, and certainly enjoy knocking it down. They may start to do simple puzzles. And even start to play pretend. The language of children at this age will change from babbling to some recognizable words, at the age of around 2 they are likely to have a vocabulary of round 200 words generally Ames of people and objects. They will communicate times of frustration and anger when they cannot achieve what they want or do what they want with tantrums and emotional.They will also communicate happiness with squeals smiles and laughter Children display lots of emotion at this age laughter smiles and squeals for happine ss. Temper, tantrums and emotional outbreaks when they are frustrated and/or angry. They start to notices other children around them although will not pay directly with them but alongside then (parallel play). YEARS Children at this age are exploring climbing to get to things they may want e. G. Boning chair to climb on and get things. They will try to peddle tricycles and use their feet if they find it too difficult.They will become able to walk up stairs using alternate feet. Their cutlery skills will increase and will star to use knife and fork possibly cutting softer foods for themselves. During this period children generally learn to potty train and are usually quite independent by 4 Children at this age enjoy role play and small world toys recreating scenes that they have witnesses and taken part in. They become interested in books and story, messy play and mark making and often by 4 give meanings to hose marks at 4 children will hold their concentration if the activity intere sts them.At children start to join word e. G. â€Å"mummy gone† â€Å"my toy† and at 3/4 generally children's speech is understandable and children are starting to form sentences. Children can communicate feelings and emotions. Children still enjoy adult interaction story cuddles and play. Children develop and interests in their peers and start to play along, side them happily sometimes copying and mimicking some of the things they observe. Cooperative play will start to emerge. Children can express themselves verbally so tantrums start o become less frequent.Children become less apprehensive about main career leaving although still like to be in the company of familiar adults. Children at 2 have no understanding of right and wrong but understand the word NO. As children turn 3 they will start to understand and follow simple rules most of the time. 4-7 YEAR Physical development at this age progresses slower. Children are able to kick, catch and control balls. Children are also mastering their fine motor skills doing threading, cutting starting to write recognizable letters and words and at 5/6 handwriting becomes more legible.Children's concentration is increasing. They are able to count and do simple calculations. Children will start to read and be able to do free writing in sentences. Children enjoy engaging in games which have rules. Children at this age ask lots of questions and enjoy talking they start to enjoy making and hearing jokes. Children will start to decode words. Children play well with their peers in cooperative play although the odd augment will still arise. Friends are important to children at this age and they make preferences with their peers creating ‘best friends'. Unit outcome The purpose and benefits of continuously improving performance are exceed any limitations and achieve personal goals and those set by team Leaders and management. 1. 2 It is good to hear other people's opinion on your work, in order to see you are doing it right and for help. Also, others can make suggestions on different ways to do things so you can try and test and if the suggestions don't work you can always go back to how you use to complete the process. Encouraging feedback also shows illnesses to improve performance. . 3 Learning and development can improve your own work as it brings new skills to light and should give the employee a better understanding of the Job they are doing. Through learning new skills, an employee could realize that they are now able to do a job they previously felt under-qualified for, and also giving you more career options. It could also mean that they could have promotion or salary raise. It can benefit work as well the employee is better qualified a nd should have a better understanding of their Job role. 1.The career development in my current role would to become a Claims Handler and pursue up the levels to Claims Specialist. With the experience from being a claims administrator in Direct Group I will have learnt the basics of the claims process and have an understanding of the company systems. 1. 5 The possible development opportunities that will arise from my current position could be to further my academic knowledge of the Business Administration role by applying to complete Level 3 in Business Administration. Or, to apply for a claims handling role and apply to complete and NV in customer service.

A.D. 56 - c. 120Occupation: HistorianImportance: Source on Imperial Rome, Roman Britain, and Germanic Tribes It is the rare fortune of these days that a man may think what he likes and say what he thinks.Histories I.1 Biography Little is known for certain about the origins of Tacitus, although he is believed to have been born, around A.D. 56, into a provincial aristocratic family in Gaul (modern France) or nearby, in the Roman province of Transalpine Gaul. We dont even know if his name was Publius or Gaius Cornelius Tacitus. He had a successful political course, becoming a senator, consul, and eventually governor of the Roman province of Asia. He probably lived and wrote into Hadrians reign (117-38) and may have died in A.D. 120. Despite a political situation that had provided for his personal success, Tacitus was unhappy with the status quo. He lamented the previous centurys reduction of aristocratic power, which was the price of having a princeps emperor. A Challenge to Latin Students As an iconoclastic Latin student, I thought it a blessing that so much of the prolific historian Livys Roman history, Ab Urbe Condita From the Founding of the City, had been lost. Tacitus poses an even greater challenge than volume to the Latin student because his prose is difficult to translate. Michael Grant acknowledges this when he says, the more prudent translators have prefaced their efforts by apologetic reminders that Tacitus has never been translated and probably never will be.... Tacitus comes from the Greco-Roman tradition of history writers whose purpose is as much to promote a rhetorical flourish-filled moral agenda as it is to record facts. Tacitus studied oratory at Rome, including the writing of Cicero, and may have written oratorical treatises before his 4 best-known writings, the historical/ethnographic pieces. Major Works: Agricola (Agricola in English),Germania,Historiae (Histories), andAnnales (Annals). The Annals of Tacitus We are missing about 2/3 of the Annales (an account of Rome year-by-year), but still have 40 out of 54 years. Annales isnt the only source for the period, either. We have Dio Cassius from about a century later, and Suetonius, a contemporary of Tacitus, who, as court secretary, had access to imperial records. Although Suetonius had important information and wrote a very different account, his biographies are considered less discriminating than Tacitus Annales. Tacituss Agricola, written in about A.D. 98, is described by Michael Grant as semi-biographical, moral eulogy of a personage-- in this case, his father-in-law. In the process of writing about his father-in-law, Tacitus provided a history and description of Britain. Germania and the Histories of Tacitus Germania is an ethnographic study of Central Europe in which Tacitus compares the decadence of Rome with the virility of the barbarians. Historiae Histories, which Tacitus wrote before Annales, treats the period from Neros death in A.D. 68 to A.D. 96. The Dialogus De Oratoribus Dialogue on Orators pits Marcus Aper, who favors oratorical eloquence, against Curiatius Maternus, who favors poetry, in a discussion (set in A.D. 74/75) of the decline in oratory.
